Electrical Apprentice - Solar Installer

Location: Edmonton, AB (in-person; projects throughout the region)

As an Apprentice Electrician, you'll work alongside experienced electricians and solar installers to build real skills on real job sites. You'll learn solar PV installation, electrical connections, safe roof work practices, and how to operate like a true professional in a client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with solar panel installs (racking, modules, wiring, connections)
• Move/organize materials on site (including ladders; lifting up to ~60 lbs)
• Support testing, troubleshooting, and quality checks for PV systems
• Help with panel upgrades/service work when required
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and support van/site organization
• Follow PPE and fall protection requirements and contribute to a safety-first culture
• Provide friendly, respectful service to customers

Qualifications

• Registered apprentice or strong intention to complete apprenticeship program
• Comfortable working at heights (deal-breaker)
• Valid Class 5 license + reliable personal transportation (required for this role)
• Mechanical aptitude; comfortable using hand/power tools
• Able to work outdoors year-round in Alberta conditions
• Roofing/solar experience is an asset, but training is provided

Pay and Benefits

• Employment type: Full-time, permanent employee
• Pay: CA$20 to CA$40 per hour (depending on apprenticeship level)
