Pro West Solar Systems (Pro West Electrical Inc.)
Company Overview
Pro West Solar Systems (Pro West Electrical Inc.) delivers end-to-end solar solutions for homes and businesses across Edmonton and surrounding Alberta communities. Built out of Pro West Electrical (founded in 2020), we are known for reliability, clean workmanship, and a client experience people remember.
We are a local, growing team that takes pride in high-quality installs, clear communication, and treating every customer's home or business with respect.
The Opportunity
As a Journeyperson Electrician and Solar Installer Crew Lead, you will own residential solar projects from setup through commissioning. You will be the on-site face of Pro West, leading your crew, solving issues in real time, and ensuring each system is safe, code-compliant, and delivered to a standard you are proud to put your name on.
This role is ideal for a journeyperson who enjoys working at heights, wants to lead small crews, and is looking to build a long-term career in solar and clean energy with a company that values performance and people.
What You'll Do
- Lead residential and occasional commercial solar installations from layout and racking to wiring, testing, and commissioning.
- Plan daily workflow for your crew, adjust to site conditions, and troubleshoot electrical and equipment issues quickly to keep projects on schedule.
- Ensure every install meets code, manufacturer specs, and Pro West quality standards, with clean workmanship and tidy, safe job sites.
- Act as the main on-site contact for homeowners and business owners, clearly explaining the work, timelines, and system operation.
- Coach and direct crew members on tasks, safety practices, and installation techniques to build a strong, capable team.
What Success Looks Like
- Within the first 36 months, you are independently running solar install sites, consistently delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Customers regularly comment on your professionalism, communication, and the cleanliness of the work area at project completion.
- Your installs pass inspections with minimal deficiencies and meet internal quality checks on wiring, terminations, labeling, and overall system performance.
- Your crew operates with a zero incidents safety mindset, with proper use of fall protection and safe work procedures on every job.
What We're Looking For
- Journeyperson Electrician Certificate (required for lead-level scope and electrical sign-off).
- Comfort working at heights on residential roofs in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and ability to travel to sites throughout Alberta.
- Strong communication skills with both crew members and clients, with a calm, problem-solving approach on-site.
- Current safety training, such as Fall Protection and CSTS/WHMIS (First Aid and solar product/installation experience are strong assets).
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: CA$40 to CA$45 per hour, based on experience and fit.
- Extended health care, dental care, employee assistance program, and company events.
- Full-time, permanent employee position.
- Overtime opportunities as needed and use of a Mercedes Sprinter work van.
